Eezi bleed -- tips please ? 200 1989

I just got the Eezi bleed from IPDUSA (22 dollars).

I have read the FAQ and some archives on pressure bleedinga nd flushing. I still have a few questions :

1) Pressure
It says in the instructions to bleed at 20 psi. If I use my spare wheel to bleed, how do I check that it is at 20 psi? Use a gage and check tire pressure for the spare? I have read some posts that recommand 25 psi (instead of the 20) otherwise you have to pump the pedal for the rear.

2)Reservoir
Should I remove the reservoir and clean it before doing the flush? My junk yard connection tells me that the seal may leak after I remove the reservoir. Should I buy the 2 seals at the dealership before bleeding/flushing and still remove the reservoir?

3) Reservoir (still)
I have read to empty it with a turkey blaster before starting the flush/bleed job in a post. The instructions say to pressure flush the old fluid with an empty bottle so that you don't mix old and new fluid.
Should I empty completely the system from brake fluid and put fresh fluid in? Or only empty reservoir and push out old fluid with new fluid in the bottle?

4) Any tips with regards to the use of Eezi bleed or in general to pressure flushing/bleeding? SHould pedal be pumped at all for instance during in between each wheel?

Thanks in advance for the help.

a few things i experienced. never drain out all the fluid from the system. and never let the resivoir go empty while bleeding or you have to start over. 20 lbs is plenty. if you dont have experience with brake bleeding you might not want to remove the resivoir, the turkey baster should suck up most of the gunk sitting on the bottom. some suggest to wrap a plastic zip tie around the resivoir and under the steel body of the master cylinder to hold the resivoir down into the rubber grommets while putting 20 lbs pressure on the resivoir. spray penetrating oil on the bleeder screws for a couple days before the job so you do not snap one off. i get a two foot piece of clear tube to put on the bleeder so the old brake fluid can be directed into a container you dont want fluid on the pads. do not use dot 3 brake fluid. i think its dot 4. or synthetic. and bleed till you get clear fluid from each bleeder. you shouldnt have to pump the pedal with the pressure bleeder. its easier with all wheels off and on jack stands. follow the bleeding sequence in the manual. this is a good procedure to prevent problems in the future. o yea this fluid is better than paint remover i can attest to this fact. ;-)

Did you remove your reservoir to clean it with brake fluid? Or you just left it on and removed the old fluid witha turkey blaster?

I bought Castrol LMA dot 4 (2 bottles of 1 quart each, that should be plenty?).

If I remove the reservoir, then won't I inevitably let air in the system?

Thanks in advance Mike.

The only time I have removed a res to clean it well is when replacing the MC. I would just suck up what you can with a baster turkey or chicken, your preference, then clean it with some Q-tip cotton swabs.

you can let some air into the MC, but make sure you bleed it properly, it is different than the calipers. you need to push the pedal to sort of bench bleed the air out of it. what you do is remove the 2 lines, attach hoses with the kit they sell at the store, and bleed like you would a caliper but have an assistant pump the pedal until you no longer see air bubbles come out of the MC, then re-attach the hoses and bleed normally!

Failure to bleed the MC will cause premature failure.

should be plenty of fluid. i removed the resivoir but thats a long story. i think you could let a little air in that way? but someone else here with more experience will probably chime in for that question. even when the resivoir was off i still had to use Q-tips to get it real clean in every corner. i guess you could do that with the resivoir on. im no mechanic but thats my experience. buy the way the pressure bleeder is great. good luck.
