help! no dash lights 200

i instaled a new boost gauge the other day and now i have no dash lights.
--i've checked the fuse its fine
--i've checked every conection, all looks good
--i checked every bulb in the dash exept the ones above the instraments(there a PITA)all the bulbs look good.
what else should i check?
i'm going to check the PITA bulbs now.

    You may have kilt the dimmer rheostat by momentarily shorting one of the sockets to ground.

      yep, kilt the dimmer. thanks
      i bypased the dimmer until i get a new one. one wierd thing thow. the lighter turns off when i turn the lights on now. that can't be normal? doesn't make sense to me.

        Does the radio die too? I think the lighter and radio are usually on the same #1 fuse? Or is the lighter socket's ground wire gone astray? I agree with you; doesn't make much sense.

          the radio stays on. guess i'll pull the dash apart tomorow and check the grounds. i didn't install the stereo that in the car now, could have messed somthing up when it was instaled. thanks
