Want to put Oil Pressure Gauge in 740 Turbo 700 1986

I just purchased a SunPro electronic oil pressure gauge that I want to install in my '86 740 turbo. Does anyone know where the existing pressure sensor is on the motor? Additionally, does anyone have any pointers or tips on this topic? Do I have to use a "T" and leave the idiot light hooked up? Thanks for any help!

You'll need a 14-1.5mm to 1/8" NPT adapter and a dual terminal 0-80psi VDO sender. Egauges has them both, part number 360 009 for the sender not sure of egauges part number for the adapter. Sunpro also has an adapter kit you can get at Pep Boys, CP7573, runs about $6.

The gauge that fits in the cluster is way rarer for the 700 than it is for the 200. If I were you I'l consider a pod mounted 2 1/16" 240 gauge mounted in one of the pods that IPD has for the windshield piller. I feel your pain, the sparse gauges in my 740 drive me nuts after looking at the 5 accessory gauges in each of my 240s, love the power however ;-)

"Does anyone know where the existing pressure sensor is on the motor?"

Yes, right near the oil filter. But the hole is metric, and you likely have an NPT sender.

"Do I have to use a "T" and leave the idiot light hooked up? "

    I strongly recommend it.

you'll need some metric adapters and a tee.
