While having my front seat taken apart to fix my seat heater, I was trying to figure out how to get some more needed legroom. The notches the forward/back arm lock into still had two more slots not being reached when the seat was all the way back. There are stops(bumps) that limit the travel on the inside track. I took out my Dremel tool with a grinding stone and ground them down. This allows the seat to slide back one more inch and locking into the last notch. To prevent sliding off the back end I crimped the ends of the inside track outwards with pliers to duplicate what the other bumps did.
Now this week I've enjoyed more comfortable driving with the extra legroom and a working bunwarmer. Two more front seats to fix.

It's been awhile, but I recall there being different holes for attaching the seat to the rack (?) allowing a 2" fore & aft adjustment range. Two bolts on each side I believe.

Yes there are holes which would allow changing the fore/aft position of the seat, but only to move it ahead. How tall am I? 6'4" But my legs equal a friend whose is 6'8".

Gee, How tall are you guys anyway? 200 1984

The seats in my '80 245 go back pretty far, except when the back seat is folded down...

They go back more then enough anyway...

Have any of you tried raising the seat with the 2 adjustments that are under the seat?

I'm 6' 3". The seats on my 1980 are just fine. But when I got the 1992 I realized that the seat didn't go back QUITE as far--and the difference is enough to make the driving position not perfect like it is on the 1980.

And both sets of seats are already on the front set of anchor holes (which puts the frame rails to the rear for more legroom).

Good solution.

Volvo does/did offer longer seat rails for this purpose, but they are probably hard to find and cost a mint.

That is a damn good idea Erich, I have been trying to think of a way to get some more legroom in my 1980 244 and just kept drawing blanks. Thank you.
