740 trim piece, aftermarket? 700

I just acquired a 1987 745ti. On all the doors, from the trim strip down to the base of the door are chrome or stainless coverings. They appear to be glued on but are not really flush to the door. Are these aftermarket? Is there any way for me to remove them without screwing up my doors' finish beneath them? Thanks for your help.

I would leave them on as it is very likely that they have been added by the previous owner to cover up damage to the lower body. Removing them could prove to reveal something that you were not expecting...

Stainless steel, aftermarket, adhesive mounted. Like woodgrained vinyl tape, it will be messy when it's pulled off.

Best bet is to leave it alone.
