88 Volvo 240 DL Rear Cam Shaft Seal-Oil Leak 200

I've only had to replace one, but didn't remove anything.

I cleaned out the recessed bore by feel with a rag, then started the new plug in by hand and pried it "home" with a flat bar — using a small wood block in the plug to pry against, and a larger one on the firewall as a fulcrum.

I don't remember if I put any oil or grease on the seal first, but a little shouldn't hurt, and is generally recommended when replacing other seals.

I also secured the new seal with a home-made retainer plate, using Don Foster's suggestion below. The tapped holes (for the usual 10mm hex bolts) are already there.
