Crank Pulley and Harmonic Balancer Show and Tell 900 1993

Last weekend I noticed some vibration at low rpm on the crank pulley and with the help of the FAQ and a few brickboarders, it was correctly diagnosed as the harmonic balancer on its way out. (136K miles, 11 years old). I did manage to drive another 500 miles without incident. I noticed at highway rpm, no vibes, so I figured it was ok for a little while.

So, I was thinking of cutting the thing apart and taking a few pics to show Brickboarders a cross sectional view.

Would the best way to cut it be along the diameter?

Tom

Clamp it so the rubber won't move, then cut along the diamter through the middle., Send us a photo for the FAQ.

That's what I was thinking of. I had a complete misconception about how it worked until someone here explained it too me.
