Was going to follow up with TurboGreasel's post and suggest installing an electric lift pump between the chassis fuel inlet pipe to the fuel filter. When the VE pumps get some serious miles on them they don't pull the fuel through the filter so well and you will get false starts in the morning. I went through this on my 760GLE and installed a small electric pump rated at 2-4 PSI and wired it to the fuel solinoid to build head pressure during pre-glow, so far it's worked like a champ and I dont have to worry so much about trapped air after changing the fuel filter. The pump I used is a generic light duty low pressure pump available at Napa or the other chains and is a square shaped pump with inlet and outlet on opposing sides. You will also need some diesel rated fuel line to connect everything together along with the proper 3/16" barbed fittings and teflon sealing tape. If explained to your mechanic he should grasp the concept of using the electric boost pump between the chassis fuel line and the fuel filter. Just connect it up to push the fuel into the filter and not suck it through, if the gasket is loose or the bottom drain is leaking slightly it will only suck air, with slight pressure you will spot the leak in a moment.
By the way that is one VERY SWEET DIESEL 760! Mine is the metallic brown with tan cloth interior, polycast wheels and E-code headlights along with the side markers.
