While trying to replace a leaky pressure hose on my power steering, I have somehow killed my car.

I replaced the hose no sweat. The package said to "disconnect the return hose connecion from the pump" to bleed it and to "place pressure cap over the shaft"
ok, fine. So I start the car. Then it dies. then I reconnect the return hose in a panic. nada. what did I do?

it's an 87 240. I'm pretty sure it's a a saginaw.

There is a 25 amp fuse located near the PS reservoir,maybe it got dislodged.

Does it go to a part called an IEC motor? I never heard of it but when I finally gave up and had it towed, that's what the guy said he re-connected.

anyway, you're essentially right. I did the p/s repair well enough but I knocked something loose. I don't think that will stop me from trying other small repairs, but I did learn to be a little more careful.
