Carb Linkage 120-130

I've got a weber carb, but I think this would apply to the stock dual carbs as well:
The rod that rotates has an arm (toward the firewall, that connects to the rod with 2 ball joints). The arm is positioned at just about 6 O'clock, so that rotating rod turns either direction.
The rod with 2 balljoints is adjusted to the maximum length, so I'm looking for a longer one. I think I want the arm to sit at about 4 or 5 O'clock.

Anyone have a similar problem, or solution?
I found some various rods here
http://www.piercemanifolds.com/linkage.htm
but I wanted to check with you guys as well.
Thanks much,
John Wade

A slightly longer rod is a good solution, but see if you can adjust the bracket for the horizontal rod on the firewall downwards first.

Also, are there two cranks on the firewall end of the horizontal rod? The longer one should connect to the pedal end of the linkage, the shorter is for a kickdown cable used with auto trannies.

You're going to like it best if the crank travels as far up as down -- for example, if it starts are 5 o'clock with closed throttle, it should go to 1 o'clock at full throttle. Not critical, but this will give you the most even pedal response.

Be *very* careful that the carb linkage itself cannot go over-center at full throttle...

Carb Linkage 120-130

Phil,
The bracket is lowered all the way down, and I've got one crank only (manual trans). I bought a replacement linkage kit from ipd, which included the short rod to the carb, and the horizontal rod with an adjustable arm (near firewall). With a longer vertical rod, I should be able to adjust to the 5 o'clock to 1 o'clock range.
Thanks, John

If the rod you have does not fit the linkage it is pretty easy to manufacture your own. I made one with a metal dowel from the hardware store and a tap and dye set...total cost .83 cents!
