Front driver side dashboard speaker... found the problem 900

This speaker wasn't working when I bought the car. Now that the outside temp is more favorable took a look at it today. Thanks to the instructions posted here, disassembly was quickly accomplished in under five minutes.

Tested capacitor ..... this was okay... and then noticed glue on the bottom of the speaker!! The magnet was completely missing..... probably dropped off with heat/vibration and .....just maybe still in the dash somewhere. Hope I can find it.....

When I bought mine it 3 magnets missing.I lightly epoxyed them back on staying away from the center and they're still working after a year. The magnet should still be in there stuck to something metal.

Got a new front speaker and with magnet works as designed. Also added some extra epoxy before installing for insurance on the magnet falling off again. Once it dries up around here, I'll see if I can find the old magnet and have a spare front speaker if that works out.

My Volvo parts guy says the rear deck speaker magnets are more likely to drop their magnets with age from his experience.

Also got a new radio speaker grill for the rear door that cost $40 Cdn to replace the cracked one. Must have felt bad at the price as they gave me a Volvo flashlight for "free". Appreciated this as I wasn't expecting it!
