Swap out auto for 410 140-160

I have a 70 164 with auto tansmission. I just bought a 75 164 with the 4spd with OD. What do I need to pull from the 75 to do the swap?

Thanks

The pedals from the '75 are different, the '75 has a 240 floorpan. Also the speedo cable attaches to the later speedo differently.

I'll play it safe and pull everything but the engine block.

Thanks again.

Swapped a 4 cylinder from a 242 into a 265 wagon once. One day job!!

My best guess is: flywheel, clutch assy, release arm and release bearing, tranny, xmember, speedo cable, complete drive shaft and carrier bearing assy, all the OD electrical goodies, clutch cable and pedal assy and all associated hardware. Possibly the brake pedal too, as I cannot remember if the brake pedal is wider on the automatic cars.

The holes for mounting the xmember in various positions are (or should be, mine were) already in the car. Pretty much a bolt up operation.

Don't know what kind of part throttle kick down mechanism is in the throttle linkage though. Never dealt with B30s much at all. Heck, I don't even know how they get fuel (D Jet or something??)

Replacing the clutch and pressure plate is your call, based on condition you see when you get it out, I would sure use one that looks pretty good. Ifthe pressure plate and flywheelare clean flat and no "hot blue" I 'd hit em wth an Orbital sander to give em some some "tooth". I would change the release bearing for sure and if you are keeping the engine from the auto car, you will definitely need a pilot shaft bearing.

Have fun

On a 164 you'll also want to install a brand new clutch cable as they
wear out over time and are a royal flarking screaming damned pain in the
neck to replace. I've also heard that the crank on the B30s are not all
machined to accept the pilot shaft bearing, which would make it a bit
more work to swap transmissions on a 164...

Oh, and a 1970 will have a 6 bolt flywheel and the 1975 may have an 8
bolt flywheel, which will also be a fly in the ointment.

Oh crap!!!

I missed those two items. Yeah, my clutch cable broke at the Frankfurt (Germany) airport and I had to drive to Spangdahlem (through every little town in Germany) that is a much bigger pain than changing the cable while you are in there (a DOUBLE royal flarking screaming damned pain)!!!!!.

Thanks for covering my omission, cdu!
