Fuel Injector Seal Kit Installation - Plastic Tip 200 1983

The fuel injector seal kits sold by FCP Groton contain a new plastic tip. How is the old tip removed without damaging the injector? How is the new tip attached? jp

Do what the 700/900 FAQ's say! 200 1983

Use a vise grips on it to crack the tip, then slide/break it off. they are a tight snap fit so when you get the new ones on, they probably won't come off unless you break them.

I like the idea of splitting the old cap with a knife to ease its removal. I found the easiest way to install the new ones was to use a box end 10mm wrench to surround the cap and then push the injector to snap the cap in place. Just make sure the wrench is thick enough not to allow the end of the injector to come in contact with what you are pushing against.

i am assuming you are speaking about the plastic holder? On my kjet 82 244 Dl i removed it simply by placing a piece of cloth over the tip of the injector and with a sort of pliar i removed the cap. I've heard of people drilling holes in pieces of wood and then putting a piece of cloth over the head of the inverted injector and lightly hammering the cap off.

Also i've heard of people using a vise grip to slightly(and i mean slightly) cursh the plastic and remove it this way.

They are pretty sturdy bits of equipment....the injectors, but even a slight bit of screwup on the tip i believe can mess them up permanantly.

even with all this i wouldn't be too worried, use the pliar or the drilled wood method or whatever and itll come right off:)

After that remove the rubber inside on the injector and after putting in a new one...the new plastic holder will go right on..just push a bit. Some people grease the rubbers before putting them on as well.

There's also another rubber on the outside of the plastic holder.

good luck

the way I did it right or wrong was carefully slit the sides with a razor blade then just pulled them off.
