emissions failed again 700

1987 740 gle wagon

I originally failed w/

Hc 1.66 limit 1.66
Co 18.71 limit 15.00
Nox 5.27 limit 2.50

Did a tuneup, timing needed adjusted.
The fuel tank pressure also failed so I replaced the vent hose which was needed.

Second time through

Hc 1.43 limit 1.60 passed
Co 38.18 limit 15.00
Nox 2.82 limit 2.50

Any ideas? This is from Phoenix Az. Thanks

Emissions 700

If they don't check timing... bump teh timing as low as it will go... and try gapping the spark plugs a bit smaller to .030" If that doesn't get it to pass... I suggest drill a REALLY small hole in the thermostat and stick a stress ball type thing in the preheat hose to block off any warm air coming itno the engine. This will help bring all those thigns down really low.

I jsut got done with this crap for my brothers 87 744 for a rolling road emmisions test.
