If they don't check timing... bump teh timing as low as it will go... and try gapping the spark plugs a bit smaller to .030" If that doesn't get it to pass... I suggest drill a REALLY small hole in the thermostat and stick a stress ball type thing in the preheat hose to block off any warm air coming itno the engine. This will help bring all those thigns down really low.

I jsut got done with this crap for my brothers 87 744 for a rolling road emmisions test.
