PV 445 front grill and trim/ fuel sender/ tail light lenses. 444-544

Hi,
Can someone please tell me the proper way to remove the front grill and trim around it?

Also, I need to get a fuel sender for the gas tank. It looks like the brass fitting of the fuel line hooks to it as well. I would like to know the part number and where I can get one. I could not find one on the Sandcar PV listing. Perhaps they call it something else. Perhaps another type of sender will work

My car is a '59 PV 445 with a 544 front end stuck on it. The previous owner changed the front end when he upgraded to a B18 and changed to 12 volt system.

Is there a west coast source for tail light lenses etc.. I need them fast.

How long does it take ScandCar to ship items from Holland to CA

Thanks.

-Ted

Sounds like yo got the tail light situation under control... but for future reference...

The tail light lenses in my '53 Jaguar came off a scrapped 444. Them little round ones. Also used on lots of other silly British cars... most of 'em probably. And easily sourced, though usually cheap plastic repros... XKs unlimited in San Luis Obispo, Moss Motors, etc... plenty of sources for those out there.

I have a '59 445, and I have replaced my taillights with the 210 style. They're bigger, and more visible. I did this after getting rear-ended. Changing them requires doing a little sheet-metal work to enlarge the hole the lights fit into. The newer lights have two bulbs each instead of the stock single bulb, so you're more visible.

I got my lights from Volvo, but that was several years ago.

I use www.swedishtreaures.com, Joe and Kim are very helpful, either by email or phone, and ship quickly. From the home page inventory, click on 544/444, then click on "page # 2" (where it lists lights/sidemarkers). Then, about 25 items down under "lights" is part # 658588. Red only, or red and amber below. Check page 2 for fuel system as well for a new sender.

Thanks for the info on removing the grill and surround. I always wondered about that.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. The tail lights on my car have two lights each. One is a single light. The other is a double light. I guess this upgrade was made by the previous owner.
Do you know the correct bulbs to use and what there functions are. I do not have a manual for the car.

I had the same question a few months back about removing the grill and surround. There are four bolts, two on each side on the vertical part of the grill surround that are reached from under the car. With the nuts removed, the grill surround is loosened. It is on a hanger at the top center and just lifts off. The mesh grill comes off with is and can then be removed from the surround.

For the parts you mentioned, you might try Vintage Import Parts at www.vintageimparts.com/ or call them at 604-943-9663 if you need them fast. Olof if pretty helpful.
