Educational assistance please
Car: 1988 240 DL Wagon with B230F engine

I’ve been told my “Idle Motor” is bad and needs to be replaced.
Are the “Idle Motor” and the “Idle Control Valve” the same thing?

And if so, where is this beast located?

On the '88 the idle is controlled by a Bosch idle control valve. This is a small motor controlled valve just ander the throttle part of the intake manifold. You could try unplugging the electrical connector, removing the two connecting hoses, and cleaning out the valve with carburetor cleaner spray. These valve can get gunked up and may then stick. I've cleaned several but never had to replace one.

sould be the same thing. also sometimes called idle bypass selenoid or air bypass selenoid. at idle the throttle body butterfly is completely closed, to control idle speed the idle control valve controls the amount of air allowed to bypass by the throtle body. its usually found under the throttle body with a hose on each side that "bypasses" the throttle body.
