940 alloy wheel damage 900 1991

Below is a pic of one of the Aries alloy wheels on my 940. My question is: can damage like this be repaired and look good? I bought the wheels second hand and no, it wasn't me who did this :) This is the worst damage on any wheel on the car. The other wheels aren't anywhere near as bad as this one. A new wheel is worth almost $450 Australian from a dealer. I was thinking about asking a wheel repair place for their opinion but thought I would ask here first.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated as always.

Brad

Thanks for all the quick replies. I'll contact a wheel repair specialist soon and let you know what they think.

Regards

Brad

Piece of cake for an outfit like Turbax in Florida (not that this helps you). They repair much worse at $100-150 per wheel and they look new when you get them back.

Typical curb rash, and as spook said, yes - it can be repaired.

If you just want it to look better, then do it the nearly-no-money method. Smooth it down with a metal file and touch it up with silver or aluminum wheel paint.

I have heard of other DIY using epoxy fillers (the solid type). Fill it in and smooth it back out.

Dear Brad,

Good a.m. and may this find you well. You'll need to find a wheel repair specialist. M

y guess is that the cost will be about half the cost of a new wheel.

I believe they can add metal and then re-shape it, so that once they re-finish the wheel, it will be as good as new.

It looks as if the wheel can be used as it, even though it isn't pretty.

Let me know, how close to reality, is my guesstimate.

Yours faithfully,

spook
