86 245 tranny equal swap with 89 740 tranny? 200

brickers, here's an easy poser.

can one drop the 86 240 wagon transmission and stick in an 89 740 transmission as an equal substitute?

or are there any other issues such as different drive shafts, mounts, and things i will need to alter/change out?

thanks again to all!

You'll need to change the shift linkage and output flange. If the 740 is a turbo car you'll need to change the throwout bearing ballstud.

Thanks Sargent, the engine block and transmission is the only thing left for me to learn.
