Fuel Pressure Problem (CIS) 200 1982

My fuel pressure is way too high and completely reeking havoc w/ my car. Busting lines and my filter. I think the probblem lies w/ my fuel distributor. Should the pressure regulator valve piston be able to be slid out fairly easy? Would the valve piston being stuck at the end of its housing cause extremely high pressure?

Check the Control Pressure Regulator since this device is what regulates the fuel return pressure in the system. When the CPR clogs up it will give you a high fuel pressure through out the fuel system and can cause problems anywhere it finds a weak spot. Good Luck!

If the return line is blocked anywhere beyond the fuel distributor the system will develop high pressure.
