Windows down, won't go up! & other Elec. Probs 200

Today i got to work and the windows wouln't go up (power windows). On the way to work the overdrive kept kicking in and out and the shift lock will not work either now. I checked all the fuses and the are good. Whats going on? Its supposed to rain soon and i at least need the windows to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rotate fuse #12 in the fuseholder. Power window relay, shift lock and A/C are on this fuse. Even if it is good the connection to the fuseholder may be bad.

    Keith,

I suspect you haven't clean the electrical window switches! Pop them out and use a thin pencil eraser to gently rub the eletrical contacts clean; the contacts become oxidized with use and age. Be careful not to loose the rocker ball bearing as you take the little switch a part, it has a mind of its own and always wants to roll away! Re-assemble and test the window operations before you put the whole unit back in the door. You didn't mention if it was a passanger or driver side window that wasn't functioning. If it is a passanger side window and after cleaning the switch on that door and checking the fuses then the problem is at the driver's door switch that controls that particular window. Clean that switch which controls that non-functioning door window.

    Good luck!

In a pinch remove the door panels hot wire the motor to make them go up.With a set of wires attached to the battery connect the other end to the window motor. If the first connection lowers them reverse the wires at the motor and the window will go up.Good luck,
      Nelson
