caliper removal 140-160 1971

I can't get the calipers off the car. Should I heat the bolts up with a torch? What should I get from the store?

I don't remember about a 140... Is there a metal tab bent over the bolt heads to lock them as on a 122? If so, I'll assume you did bend the tabs back... and... sorry for this suggestion...it is in no way meant to sound condescending, but are you certain you are turning them the right way? Easy to go the wrong way when the bolt heads are not facing you... I've done it many, many times. 'righty tighty lefty loosey' no longer applies.

Tight bolts... longer wrench. You'll get 'em. I'd tend to avoid heat on brake parts too.

I have a piece of 3/4" pipe about a foot and a half long that just fits
over both of my socket handles. Works pretty well. Assuming your bolts
aren't rusty that should work for you too. I would NOT recommend using
a torch as they are heat treated bolts. They should be VERY tight though.

Jim,
Did you soak it with PB Blaster or Deep Creep? Try this before the torch.
Those bolts are always tight.

And if it does not come loose, leave it soaked for a day or so.

And use a 6 point socket. (NT) 140-160 1971
