i found a 90 240 wagon in excellent condition. never wrecked. boneyard guy told me the lady blew the head. if you can use some of these parts, i'll try to get them on saturdays.
i took the hatch, all the windows (great factory tint), headliner and last visor just last friday.
so the interior items are still in great condition but will start deteriating now since i took the windows & hatch.
interior parts available, blue. my interior is tan.
exterior has no scratches. paint is silver & still glossy w/ blue vinyl interior,
no front seats, no hood, no left fender, no h/lights or lenses & no engine or radiator. i think the front struts are gone, too. the ecu is gone but the boneys (boneyard guys) probably have it. no ebrake or ebrake console
car did have cruise--but only the vacuum pump is still there in the engine bay. the vac valves & control pump are probably still in the car. the switch wand is there.
what's left: exc cond blue wagon carpet front & back, dash, glove box, center console (nice instrum cluster w/ 163k miles, great condition back seat, great doors, & back cargo area stuff & door panels. also has 3rd seat in black, but blue carpet. most relays are already there.
i asked about the srs system, but they wanted $100-150 for the complete system (steering wheel, air bag, backup power supply & crash unit).
i almost feel like changing my interior to blue. it's got almost everything for blue interior wagons.
not trying to make a buck, just trying to help.

i'll go the yard on saturday with a list of what people want.
i plan to buy everything at once to get the best deal i can. i just bought a bunch of parts last week and hopefully they will cut me a deal.
also, i'm not in this for the money. costs will only be what the yard charges and actual shipping costs. i'm not taking any money for myself.
i'm still driving my original 86 245 and it's hard to find good condition volvo parts at a good price.
glad to help.

Byron, I should have posted my earlier comment here. Sorry.
Thanks for looking for the wheels. I found a pair on ebay a couple of weeks ago and got them for $10.50 each I believe it was, plus shipping, which was about $28 for the two of them, so ended up with two decent steel wheels for about $48 total.
Yes, I can provide information about the rocker panel cap. (I looked in my Bentley's but could find nothing there.) The rocker panel cap (my term) is used to cover about a 2-inch diameter hole that provides an entry of sorts into the interior of the rocker panel at the back of the rocker panel. Mine is missing for some reason.
The cap almost for sure has black undercoat covering it, and if there is not some ridiculously thick amount of undercoat at that location, you can see its very slightly raised profile compared to its immediately surrounding area (see next paragraph). It can be removed with a small screwdriver, as it is simply a 2-inch diameter piece of plastic. It's nice to know about because it provides some degree of entry into the interior of the rocker panel at the panel's rear on each side of the car, which allows possible vacuuming of crud out and the ablity to spray your favorite anti-corrosion medium into the interior of the rocker panel where rust frequently occurs.
The location, on each side of the car, is as ealier noted plus: about 4" above the bottom of the wheel well, about 1-1/2" in from the side of the car. (This "part" is priced at about $26 or $28 from Volvo!!!!)
I'm also looking for one other item: the silver metal cover that is under the driver's rug and next to the door (requires removing the black plastic piece that sits on the door sill and folding the rug back to get at).
Thanks!!

hello, no problem,
glad to hear you found some wheels.
ok, now i know what to look for. this item is something like a grommet, isn't it? are there 2, one for each side?
anyway, i'll go to the yard on saturday to try to get pricing on everything and try to buy everything at once to get a good deal.
about that $28 price, it's ridiculous, volvo makes tons of money on parts!!
one more thing, i'm not in this to make money, costs will only be the amount the yard parts cost me and the actual shipping.
i know how it is to get good decent volvo parts--we volvo owners can all use each others help.

Byron--
I found two steel wheels but am still in need of two more if the price is good enough (say, $20 maximum per each wheel, because shipping will be perhaps as high as $30 to ship two).
Yes, the rocker panel piece is something like a grommet.
Also please note if not too inconvenient i could use a good condition metal panel piece that goes under the carpet to the left of the driver's left side (the piece protects the wiring that runs underneath it). I ill be out of town through Tuesday so if you do find any of this it will be Wednesday before I can reply to any communication you may in the next few days or so.
Yes, something like $28 for a small plastic cap!! think they don't want to have to have another production run of them because they're sure not trying to sell them.

Hi, i got your aluminum floor piece and the black rubber grommet thing.
i had to go to the second yard that i go to bec the first yard was way too high on parts.
besides, this piece came from a 92 silver sedan, so your part is in way better shape than what that 90 wagon had. it was already oxidizing (white substance on the aluminum). there is none on the one i got.
also, i got a rubber grommet thing which i think is the one you need. is this part right near the jack support near the right rear tire?
the rubber piece is about 1.5-2 in long and split in the middle and that's the way it came. if it's not the piece, i can go back next week and get it at no charge.
i'll take a pic of bot items and send them to you, but it'll have to be tomorrow--it's my son's digital camera. if it's not the part, i'll get the part and send everything all at once.
i got a door mould piece for one the guys who responded to this email, your piece and several relays for me for a total of $15. i thought about splitting the cost 3 ways.
would $5 including shipping be ok? this aluminum piece seems to be a cheaper item since it's not a body part.
i think the first yard was higher because they are in houston and easily accessable. my yard i go to is about 20 mi out of houston and closer to my home.
let me know if this works for you.

Yes, the grommet is near the jack support (just above it, but attached to the wheel well right in front of the tire, rather than being on the bottom of the car as the jackstand is).
The aluminum floor piece sounds great.
Yes, $5 shipping would be fine and splitting the $15 cost 3 ways would be fine with me. Just let me know, and thanks!!

so, i'll be sending you the aluminum foot plate and the rubber grommet early next week.

Hey Chuck,
ok, i found the round grommet thing on my car. i know what i'm looking for. i can't believe volvo wants $28 for just that thing.
boy, without you telling me that was there, i would have not have known about that grommet.
yep, it's round, covered with dirt, in the wheel well.
i'll try to get both today & send them to you so you can have a spare.

Hello Chuck,
let me go back this Friday or Sat to pick up the grommet thing and i'll pack it up and send it sometime next week.
Also, it's not $5 shipping, but $5 total including shipping.
if i bought a bunch of parts, he would have probably just thrown it in for free.
what i meant about splitting 3 ways was that i picked up something else for another person here, also. total cost to me was $15. three ways, $5 each.
regards,
byron

Yes, I know that one--it's the aluminum piece that protects the wiring underneath. sure. there is this 90 and there's another 92 sedan at another yard i go to. i pulled the carpet up on the 92 and the floor pan is in pristince condition & so is the aluminum piece.
so, there's two available.
nothing to it! btw, how about emailing me, i can call you to confirm that grommet. my email is bc1_2002@yahool.com

I'm in need of the 2-inch or so diameter plastic rocker panel cap that is immediately in front of the left rear wheel in the wheel well area. Let me know. Thanks!
(also looking for two 14-inch 240 steel wheels in good condition!)

hello,
1) i'll look around for steel wheels. they've got another 240 in the yard-88 or 89. i'll get a price on the wheels & see what condition they're in.
2) can you tell me what the rocker panel cap is used for or what does it go on? i'll look on my wagon to see what you might be referring.
are you referring to the trim piece on the side of the car right in front of the rear wheel well?
i'm pretty familiar with the area since i've replaced the fuel pump & installed ss brake hoses & shocks.
if it's in bentley's let me know what page it's on.
thanks,
byron

Hi Bryan, i got your gray moulding for the lower driver's door. the original junkyard wanted $80 for the valance & moulding. i was getting the thin, black long trim (underneath the doors), too, with a few plastic pieces.
cost was way, way too high.
i dropped the valance and black trim & he still wanted $35 for the moulding & the few plastic stuff i had. shouldn't have been more than $10-15.
i said thanks but no thanks, and went to my junkyard i always go to.
i did get you the gray moulding, but no valance. they are selling one valance on ebay at a good price right now, probably in better condition; this one was a little roughed up at the bottom a little bit.
besides, at the other junkyard, the gray moulding trim came off a 92 silver 240 sedan, which is in better condition. i bought your moulding (sorry, but no valance), an aluminum floor piece for another person and two relays for myself for $15. much better deal. both rubber knob things are still attached to the moulding. i pulled it off carefully not to bend it. it's held on by some kind of glue stuff.
i can take a pic if you like but it'll have to be tomorrow--it's my son's digital camera.
would $5 + actual shipping be ok? i thought about splitting the cost 3 equal ways. i believe you will be happy with this moulding, it's in pretty good condition.
i think the first yard was higher because they are in houston and easily accessable. my yard i go to is about 20 mi out of houston and closer to my home.
let me know if this works for you.

$5 plus s&h sounds awesome and I agree about the valence way to high. My address 1717 West Maple, Wichita Kansas, 67213. Let me know how you what me to pay. Pay pal, check, etc. Thanks Byron.

Bryan, i've got it all packed up and ready to ship tomorrow.
paypal is fine. the cost will be $5 + whatever the actual shipping cost is.
i'll send it by us mail. should be no problem.
i was wrong about a valance on ebay. others will come--if i find one in good condition, i'll see if you're still interested.
the trim has some tiny white spots on it but can be easily scratched off with a fingernail or one of those plastic dish scrubber pads.
also, i picked it up from the ground when the mowers came to mow my yard and i placed it down with the trim over the side of the table. in the texas sun, it bent down a little, but no problem.
just lay it flat in the sun and it will straighten out. also, put it on when it very hot so the trim can be more malleable.
regards, byron

hello kyle, did you get my reply?
the lady lived in rosenberg, 7 miles from my home. the boney boys showed me her title. boy i wish i knew she was selling the darn thing. i saw a sign on the floor for $3000. a little high for a car with a blown head, but not much money to repair it, and a car that could go for another 200k mi easily.
shoot!!

Thanks,

Hi, sure, you're lucky. yea, i'm just about positive it will fit. from 86-93, the 240 engine didn't change--b230f engine.
i've got a dl 245, 86.
it's lone star imports on harwin, between gessner & fondren, something like that. they've been there for a long time.
it's the silver wagon.

Engine harness WON'T fit. '86 & ''87s were the same but changes after that.

yep, sorry, i didn't know he was talking about the main engine wiring harness (mwh)--it's gone with the engine. manual tranny is still there, though.
i thought he may have been talking about a support crossbar underneath the engine or something.
yea, i changed out my mwh about 2 yrs ago.
