93 240 seat heating and dash light help 200 1993

Hi,

I recently bought a 93 240 diesel sedan.
All is working wonderful except for 3 things:

1 The front seat heating doesn't work, if I flip the switch the light does not turn on, and well it just doesn't work.
Can you guys walk me through the possible failing points (I have checked the fuses in the fuse box, but it seems that there's another fuse under the seat- connecting the wiring, is this right?)

2 the dashboard foglight is broken, the fog light works but the switch doesn't light up. Can I remove the plug to change the bulb or do I have to remove the panel.

3 the bottom row of the center console ventilation switches is not illuminated, the top row is => another broken bulb i guess. How can I acces this center console?

Thanks in advance.

Happy Bricking,

Dietbrand

Not sure about the heated seat. I may be well out of touch with that model but if it is like the other models the foglight switch can be taken out and the bulb replaced. Most of the bulbs were the "peanut" type that just pull out but I have seen some that are wired to the inside of the switch. If that is the case I have no help for you.. Sorry. As for the console lights, I take it you are refering to the push button switches that control the vent pods. As in defrost, recirculate and the leg vents. If that is what you are talking about and it is like the other models there is a piece of lucite plastic in the console dash that has two(2) lights in it. These do not provide much light untill it is almost totally dark. They shine down to illuminate the switches. You have to pull the front plastic part of the console to have access to them. Be careful as there is not much room to work. Most of the time you will pull the lights out as you move the panel away from the metal part of the console so watch for them to fall downward. A lot of people think they are missing because they have actually dropped down without being noticed.

Hi,

Sorry I could not reply. But some idiot truck driver had just backed up against my 240. So I'll be busy with that.
I'm going to my volvo garage to have them replace the hood, front-grille, and the part the hood locks into.

Damn so much for the minty condition exterior. Oh well, now it's going to have some shiny new parts

After this work I'm going to return working on the lights, thanks for all that replied.

A '93 diesel?

I didn't know such a thing existed.

I'll be back in a bit to answer your questions, but I'm interested in what kind of engine was dropped in your car.

Well things in Europe are bit different than in US.
And furthermore, I live in Belgium where about 65% of all cars are diesels (much cheaper if you drive alot).
The engine is the standard D24 VW engine.
