clunk in 2001 V70 on initial start up at about 10 miles - dealer says it is brakes adjusting ??

Car makes a clunk sound at about 10 miles per hour immediately preceding the car shifting into second gear. This started about a month ago. The car is still under warranty and I took it to the dealer and described the clunk sound. Dealer says the sound is "normal" and that it is simply the brakes adjusting. I don't understand how it can be normal and the brakes adjusting if the sound is new. Any ideas??? Anyone else had this problem.

It is not the brakes "adjusting", it is the ABS pump motor being activated during a diagnostic test. It performs the self diagnostic each time the car is started. The ABS computer activates the pump briefly at 12 mph. If the pump does not operate, it sets a diagnostic fault code and turns on the ABS warning lamp. This is a NORMAL condition.

Don't accept an answer that makes no sense. There is no such thing as brakes adjusting while the car is moving foward at any speed. Take the car for a drive with the mechanic or the "service advisor" or whatever they call themselves and make them listen to it and have them explain in detail exactly what they mean by "brakes adjusting".
