Bumper Shock replacement

I have just gotten my brick back from the paint shop. My volvo which is an 88244 seems to always had a problem with the bumper on the drivers side going to far back on the fender. I would like to make sure my problem lies with the shock instead of the actual bumper. If I remove the shock, will I have a hard time making it realign to the correct position?
Thanks and happy bricking.

    Bumper Shock replacement

If the shock has been compressed due to an accident of some sort, yes - you'll have issues with realignment. The shocks were meant to be replaced after any kind of a fender-bender. However, junkyard replacements can be picked up relatively cheaply, and will solve your bumper alignment issues.
