new keys? 700 1987

Can you get a key cut by a volvo dealer if you give them your VIN? Has anybody done this before? I only have one copy of mine, and it's so old and worn it probably wouldn't copy well.

not cheap. plan on $30.00 per key 700 1987

...but it sounds like it is dealer's choice.

Just didn't want him to be totally discouraged, although my $7 key was for a lesser car (240) as they say in the bimmer ads.

And bring your title or registration...

Heck, I was out the door for $4.50 for the 240 keys. $32 for the high security 88+ 760/960/940SE keys. The other 740/940 keys are cheap.

I do prefer to get my high security spendy keys from the Volvo dealer. Despite what the naysayers are saying.. the steel keys seem to be the way to go. If Volvo switched *TO* steel, and the brass keys wear out fairly quick.. why bother with brass?

yes they will be able to either cut or order a new key for you with the VIN number.
