front cam seal 700 1987

I am getting ready to do the cam seal, timing belt and water pump on my b230f. According to the FAQ, the cam seal can be done without removing the valve cover but I'm a little concerned about all the warnings about not installing it properly. Can anyone assure me this is very doable and is a reasonable way to proceed.

May as well do the crank and intermediate seals while you're at it and get three times the practice!

It's a very "doable" procedure just be careful not to score the sealing surfaces when removing the old seals. When reinstalling just go slowly and make sure the seal is inserted the same depth all the way around. I didn't have the seal installation tools but I found some aluminum pipe couplings that were the perfect diameters and used them to press the seals in.

Good luck!

The seal is in no way involved with the cam cover.
Be assured, this is very doable and is a reasonable way to proceed.
Change the other seals while you're at it.
