front cam seal 700 1987

I am getting ready to do the cam seal, timing belt and water pump on my b230f. According to the FAQ, the cam seal can be done without removing the valve cover but I'm a little concerned about all the warnings about not installing it properly. Can anyone assure me this is very doable and is a reasonable way to proceed.
