OOOOPS it aint no B230FT ....... 16v FT (B234FT if I recall correctly) 700

I just bought an engine from a wrecked 764ti

Bought it sight unseen as I knew the seller and knew he was honest. He had a buyer for the engine and pulled it for him, but buyer was a no show. Car was running fine with no real issues (he drove the car around town for a few days with no tag, it was a salvage car from a multi car incident).

OK, the engine was cheap so I bought it. To my suprise, it's a 16v. I don't think these were ever offered in the US (turbo) were they?

Here's the trouble, I have no use for the engine and since the body's been crushed, I can't get anything needed to make it feesible for a transplant.

Is there a US market for this engine with no harness or anything but the engine?

I'm going to get the info off of it later and list it in the classifieds. Don't need anything but my $ back, so no big deal. I've had a few ppl ask me already if they could put it in their project cars. It's my understanding though that the elec systems would need to be changed as well (remember, there's no body to pull anything from). Am I correct?

Turns out I was wrong........ about value that is. The engine was in fact factory.

Asked a few ppl to take a look and see if they could help me unload it. One (Jay, you on the brickboard?) made a VERY generous offer and it's VERY gone to a new home.

Thanks ppl,
Frank

I doubt it was a factory R-sport head, but I was curious to know either way.
Did the valve cover have markings like this one does: http://www.tuff240.com/svenssonsrsport16vti.htm
Or did it JUST say "Volvo" on it?

The 16 valve turbo was two litre (B204FT/GT), never 2.3. But a custom combination of course could be larger.

In original condition this (sold in Italy and a few other countries only, found in 740/760/780) is a rare piece - what a shame you didn't get the electronics to match it. I guess those parts are pretty hard to find in the US...

Where are you? I may be interested if you are in the New England/NY/NJ area.

So you think it's a B234FT? I don't believe they were offered in the US, sounds like the engine may be customized. From time that I've spent at Turbobricks, I've seen engines with the 16v heads on B230FT blocks.

Send a picture of it to me at: patrick(at)tuff240.com
I doubt it's what I'm looking for, but it never hurts to try. ;-)
Thanks,
