Trans. Mode Selector Lights Flashing 900 1993

Hi, I have a '93 960 wagon, auto, 158K. In trying to get out of a pile of snow today and working the W-E-S mode switch, I was left suddenly with the lights flashing between W and E or W and S, depending on which I was pushing, and the arrow on the dash was flashing. Stopped and restarted, same thing. Drove a little bit, park, drive, etc., let car sit and now it seems fine. Maybe I just confused it and it needed to reset itself? Should I take it in? I have a super mechanic.

Thanks.

Lee

It probably your gear position sensor. They get flakey in the 960s. In cold weather they sometimes will "act up" and the symptoms may be transitory, although on mine (and others) I think its just a matter of time before you need to replace it. The part is around $100; my mechanic charged an hour labor to do it.

Read all about it at: http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/TransmissionAutoAW30.htm#960AW3040GearPositionSensorSwitchReplacement

Hope this helps.
