C303, etc

Although they are all-wheel drive I think the C303 and related vehicles
should be treated in this forum as they have a great deal more in common
with PV, 120 and 140 Volvos than with the later models.

I recently sold a clutch on ebay (well, not THAT recently!) to a fellow who
was going to use it on a C303.

With the articles in the Rolling mag that I got yesterday my interest in them
was somewhat renewed. I wonder if the C303 owners are aware of this forum.
Certainly if they are using a B30A with (#@$$) Zenith Stromberg carbs, they
might receive some benefits here.

Further, it might be interesting to know if the C303's ZF tranny is like a
beefed-up M400, and if so, could it be back-adapted to the 164?

A 164 with awd?

That would be great up in the snow/ice country. I wonder if it would raise the car up 12"? :(

A 164 with awd?

What I was wondering was, would it be interchangeable with the M400/410
and sturdier so that it would not have the pesky noisy bearings that
the M400/410 always get. Would like to put a Laycock DeNormanville type J
on it to retain pretty much the same functionality as stockoid.

I was NOT considering higher ground clearance or multiwheel drive.

However my 164 has been in places in both Panama and Costa Rica where
no passenger car had ever been seen before. Trucks and jeeps but not cars.
