Engine sputtering after fuel pump replacement part IV. The saga continues.

Well after replacing the fuel filter this weekend the main pump continues to protest. So far I have replaced the in tank pump, main pump, filter, FPR, resoldered the fuel pump relay and cleaned the grounds. The main pump continues to make a sound as if it is struggling for fuel. It is making is similar to a growling sound.
The give some background info I noticed a high pitch whine that I could not locate that turned into the aforementioned growl. I my way home the engine started sputtering as if it was starving for gas. This lead to the subsequent changing of parts to fix the running problems. Except for one stumble on the way in this morning it ran well but continues to make the same noise that lead to this.
Help

Since you have replaced all the pertinent parts, you must look elsewhere.
If you had a bad ground, the pump simply would not run.
If the problem comes and goes, and only appears after driving awhile, maybe its dirt. Perhaps pulling the in tank pump and checking the sock filter on it could give a hint to that. I admit dirt is unlikely these days, but I had an old Dodge that was having this problem even after I owned it for a few years.

Another tack would be that things heat up as you drive, so maybe it's an electronic problem. I have had a lot of sputtering and misfiring in the 744 recently and only this weekend discovered it was the AMM. Try the disconnect the AMM test to see if things change (see the FAQ on this)

      But where should I look?
If the ground is slightly corroded or loose it will still conduct but not as well as it should therefore creating higher resistance and thus putting a strain on the pump.
The original sock although old did not appear have evidence of being dirty. I did put a new sock on and I do not relish pulling that pump again.
When I stated that it comes and goes I meant that it is not constant noise but more of a pulsating rhythm.
It has been running well I am just concerned about the noise that the pump is making as it seems to have led to all of this.
      Thanks.
