Handbrake (parking brake) Cable Replacement/adjustment 700 1989

Hi Guys,
just replaced a broken handbrake cable today, checked the part against the old one & they looked the same but now its installed and I have adjusted it up fully but it still will not engane the rear shoes. The cable seems slack at the rear but I can apply the rear brakes by pulling the cable at the axle. Did I get a wrong part or have I made a newbie error ? Can't seem to find anyone else with this particular problem . . .

tia,

Paul

Did you use the adjustment behind the handle? It is the big teflon nut/coller behind the back seats ash tray/panel.

My cable broke yesterday, time to go shopping.

You are very welcome. Thanks for the advisory!!! I wondered how it turned out.
I always thought that was the slickest way to run a cable. Excellent engineering.
My new one will be in Thursday.
Don't forget to vacuum up all the french fries that have been down there since Reagan was President before sealing her up.
