Twin Cities maintenance help? 200

Now that the weather is getting nice and I'm not hugely pregnant (wahoo!), I'm motivated to start learning how to do the maintainence myself on my '89 245. The problem is, I am scared to start. Analysis paralysis. I've had no issues with my wagon (120K miles - only routine maintenance), and I don't want to be the cause of new problems now.

Is there someone in the Mpls./St. Paul area (I'm in St. Paul by I-94 & Lexington) who would be willing to give me a tutorial some weekend on basic maintenance - oil changes, relays and the like? I have my Bentley manual and a pack of Mann filters! I'd be more than happy to pay/barter for your time.

Give my car an oil change and I'll drive for 3 months. Teach me how to do one and I'll roll for years. Isn't that how the parable goes?

Martha

Hey, Marthina. Good question, good concept.

Joe HC sounds like a neat guy. I would like to get a chance to meet him myself.

Funny, too, that it seems that I live about 3 miles W of you, and my '87 245 friend Shirley lives about an equal distance NE of you. She's been doing more of her own work, and is seriously into women helping women.

Maybe we could set something up?

And what became of the "not hugely pregnant (wahoo!)"? :-)

We should all get together and have a volvofest mechanicing. Bring your friend Shirley. etc. Let's try and set that up.

Sure, Joe... the thing is that we are inviting ourselves to Marthina's place, I think. :-)

ha! The nearest highschool to her is St. Paul Central, so it is certifiably a Central location. ;-)

she's got to tell us when the coffee's on.
Maybe not tomorrow, Sunday, you know, special, etc. ;-)

(Sorry, someone keeps sneaking up to the keyboard and inserting these hokey emoticons.)

I'm up for that! 200

Dunning Park (just west of Central HS) is a great gathering place. My driveway would probably work, as well. We can figure out the details later, but April sounds great for me.

I had a great time today! Joe is a great teacher, even if he won't admit it. It was a beautiful day to be outside and learning all things Volvo. I even saw my baby, Sebastian, taking a few peeks under the hood every now and then. Not bad for 11 months! The kid's got potential. ;-)

She is coming over to my house today, and Sunday is a Christian holiday, so that is out for those followers. I will be out of town for work next weekend, but Sunday Apr 10 may work for me. Talk to your Shirley and e-mail me off line.

Thanks-

Joe HC
