It's not difficult to remove the fuel rail and injectors. Though if you are removing the injectors from the rail it's best to relieve the fuel pressure so you don't have gas spewing everywhere. Common sense is key while working with flammable materials!!

If the car isn't needed for daily driving, I highly recommend you send the injectors out for cleaning. A company that I have used in the past www.cruzinperformance.com does a very nice job cleaning/refurbishing all types of injectors. For $12-13 (per injector) + shipping he will freshen up the exterior, ultrasonically clean the internals, flow test, and put new seals on them. For what it's worth, very rarely do injectors need to be replaced. At $80 a pop it's best to try the cleaning method first!!

What kind of problems are you having? We can help diagnose the problem before you start tearing the car apart.

Good luck,
Bean

Do you have any before/after results on the injectors you've had done? I'm curious as to how bad a typical injector is before the service.

Glad I saved the email...

No data from before the cleaning, though he said that they were in good condition. I had sent them for cleaning to try to eliminate a poor idle, long frustrating story but it ended up being the flywheel out of position ('90 244DL w/RPM sensor).

Real data cut and pasted from his email:
Here are the results from the final flow comparison tests.
Static flow test:
Injector #1-100mL
Injector #2-99.5mL
Injector #3-100mL
Injector #4-100mL

Dynamic flow comparison test:
Injector #1-100mL
Injector #2-100mL
Injector #3-100mL
Injector #4-100mL
