I have a bad door lock cylinder on my drivers door which causes me to enter through the passenger door and pop the locks from inside. Is swapping the lock/cylinder out a difficult task? I don't know if the power locks make it more difficult or not. Also is there anything else I need to know?

Next, the drivers door handle broke, it felt like a spring had broken. The part you pull in to open it has gone slack. Is that just a matter of replacing the door handle or is the some interior spring that needs fixing.

Thanks in advance!

Philip

The cylinder should come out easily -- I think it's merely held in place by a clip on the inside. I would try swapping the cylinder with the one on the passenger side. Then you keep the same key! Sure you have an inoperable one on the passenger side, but how often do you need one over there. Another option (or perhaps in addition to the first) would be to add keyless entry. I did so on my wife's car and it is wonderful -- you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

As far as the handle is concerned, you can remove that at the same time as your in there working on the tumbler. You’ll be able to tell what's wrong with it then.
