Switch on the front of car next S90-V90

Can some one tell me what the switch that next to the radiator, just to the right of the rad, has a spot for the hood to push it down, what the heck is this for,I don't have a light under there as far as I know.
Thanks
Poolman

Hello Poolman,

It's part of the alarm system; the alarm won't arm with the hood open.

I have never noticed this switch! Since it's a plunger-type, I suspect it is associated with the alarm as suggested, although I never knew that it was rigged as such. The section in the owner's manual that covers the alarm does not speak to the hood as triggered, only the doors and tailgate/trunk. I dunno... maybe it's associated with the park lock to you don't run over your technician.... OK, it's a stretch, but not totally inconsistent with the Volvo philosophy.

Probably an alarm-component! Try it by keeping it switched in and then activate your alarm/locking on the remote. Wait for a minute an then get your hands of the switch (and in your ears)!
If there's no alarm, it may be pre-installed for an alarmsystem.

Thanks for the Information! S90-V90

I've always assumed it was for the alarm but, never had the inclination to assign enough priority to run the experiment to verify my assumption.

Thanks for the information. Now I can cross that item of my "sometime when I have time", list.
