Hard Plastic Fule Line on K-Jet 200

On my 1980 242, there are some pieces of the K-Jet system that use a hard plastic fuel line (usually encased in a softer rubber sheath). This hard plastic line appears to be heat shrunk over the barbed fittings onthigs such as the frequencyu valve. Is it possible to buy this hard plastic line in bulk length, and if so, how do you work it onto the fittings for a tight, safe seal ? Reason for asking is that some of the components, like the frequency valve, whne rodred as a standard Bosch part, do not come with this hard hose attached. Thaks.

Mike

Hard Plastic Fule Line on K-Jet 200

Roadster, I went through the same thing when someone stole the fuel pump from a customers car... his was a '74 145, they simply cut the lines . The plastic fuel line is available at the Volvo Dlrs. by the inch.
Two things to be careful with. First if you have to remove an old piece of it from a steel nipple , do not cut the line lengthwise with a utility blade. This will leave a "cut" or scratch line down the nipple and over each barb. It will then leak. Second, you can heat the end of the pastic line in Boiling water, but only heat it back far enough to go over the last barb. If you heat it back too far the line will bend over and kink as you try to push it on. You only want the end heated . I was able to remove the steel fitting and put it in a vice to hold it securely. I was able to push the heated line on about 2/3 rd's of the way, and then I quickly removed the stl. nipple from the vice and used a leather hammer to whack the end of the steel fitting to get it to go all the way down.
This is much harder to do in the winter with cold temperatures. HTH Tom Bend, Ore.
