Going to get rid of the 145... 140-160

So, I've decided, that since I'm not going to have anywhere to keep it, and I don't want to spend the time on it,(142 needs more than enough time already), and etc. Here's the plan, take off the roof rack, take off the trailer hitch, take out the floormats, take out the IPD swaybars, and sell the car as is, with a few extra parts and fluids and junk here and there for somewhere around $300 listed as running/driveable but no title.

I have a friend that may have a friend that's interested in the car, and I'll let him have it for free if I can get the tranny and engine when they're done with it(they want to swap a b230ft into it).

The other stuff I got out of the car, listed above and an alloy SU manifold, will all be sold off on ebay/IPD classifieds.

Thoughts?

Roof Rack 140-160

Hey Kyle,

Is the roof rack the chrome/wood one? If so I'm interested in it :)

Cheers,

Andrew

Well, it was, but now it's only the main chrome rim part, so there's no wood section that goes in the middle on the roof. It's just the chrome rim stuff:

Wood is easy to cut :) I've got a fair amount of dents in the roof of this car.. 2-3 fairly big ones.. hoping a roof rack will help that out. What's the condition of the chrome?

I might be interested in the sway bar set for my 72 142. Were the wagon and 2-door bars the same? What are you asking for them?

Wayne

I agree with Kane on the roof rack, or if you DO take it off, be sure and
plug the holes WELL or you'll flood the inside of the car, which will greatly
reduce its value. I think you'd do the recipient a big favor to leave it on,
though. And swap the stock swaybars back on to it to render it more or less
safe to drive.

Yeah, I'd probably get the hole plug set from IPD or look for a similar setup from somewhere else. I've got a lead on a stock front swaybar, so that'll be tossed on most likely, or at least tossed IN the car to go with it. The person I got the car from said that when it was on Ebay there were a lot of people asking about the availability of the roof rack. Maybe I'll put a post up on IPD to see if anyone wants it.

You might still get more $ if you got it titled first ...

Don't recall the roof rack - factory or not? If it's factory screw-on, just leave the damn thing on. Not much resale value on those.

Rest of it sounds feasible, I guess.

-- Kane ... wiht too many cars as it is. In reality, I have 7 - the "Sacraficial Brick" ('86 764Ti/AW71) isn't in the list.

Hey I am interested in IPD swaybars for my new to me 71 145s. I seem to remember your 145 from auction site(even sent inquiry to poster), but it was too far gone for me. Glad to see it runinng, really like the color and seem to have a "lowered stance" Does it have the lower springs? Next project for mine are bars and lower springs{though springs seem hard to find) Good luck michael

I'm not sure what it's got for springs, but I do know that the tires are more than an inch in diameter smaller than stock, so that accounts for some of the lowering, but yeah, I'm not sure what else makes it so low! It rides really well though, so I don't think they're lowering springs, could just be sagging stock springs. I should take a closer look though. I do know that the right rear spring is compressed a lot further than the left side because there's a larger wheel/tire on the right side of the car. The swaybars are already accounted for though, sorry.
