I've screwed something up S90-V90

I changed out the front rotors and replaced the rear pads as well a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm feeling a pulsing on the pedel at times when I come to a stop. When I'm going down hill and start to give some break the steering wheel starts to shimmy until I start giving it more peddle then she smooths out.
Have replaced the front bushings along with tierods and ball joints so they are fine. Question is if I have replaced one of the front rotors and have not seated the thing in correctly, will I have to buy a new one to get everything straight?
Thanks
Poolman

What brand of rotors did you go with and did you torque the wheels down evenly and consistently? Provided everything else is right you can try cutting the rotors or seeing if you can get the vendor to replace them, and if they do I would go with a little better brand if at all possible.

I have had customers come in for brakes and then go get tires at the tire store and boomerang back to me because of brake shimmy. Grab breaker bar and torque wrench, walk outside, break loose and retorque their wheels, test drive, problem solved, and customer is happy again.

Back in the day of warranty buy backs over just this kind of crap they had us indexing rotors to hubs, what a nightmare. You were expected to take the rotor off, clean the hub, torque down this flat inspection ring, measure the hub and if it was withing specs (usually was) then locate the low spot and mark it. The new rotors were supposed to come with a dot on them indicating the "high" spot and I think you were supposed to juxtoppose them. At any rate they still expected you to put the rotor on FIVE different ways to find the combination with the least amount of runnout. Did I mention what a nightmare? Oh, and it was warranty time and it payed no more time that it did to just hang a set of rotors. Care to guess how many of those really got done? The spec on it was .3mm at the hub.

Hi Poolman,

Re-torque the wheel lugs. I have found that after a couple of hundred miles some of the lugs seat themselves and could use a cinching up. Can't hurt, costs nothing.

Are your calipers freely moving?

You can have the new rotors cut, I'm sure they won't have to take very much off since they're new. I guess it's possible one had a slight defect and it is now exacerbated since being thru several hot/cold braking cycles.

I'm curious about where the rotors came from. Quite a while back before I knew better, I ordered front and rears from carparts.com (aka jc whitney). What garbage. Even sent the wrong size for the rears which I didnt find out till later when I saw that the edge of the pad was off the rotor.

Last set was from fcp and they were zimmerman brand, very nice german rotors. And of course I learned about torquing the wheels to 63 ft. lbs.

The new rotors came from FCP Groton-were the one Nick recomomended(Zimmerman)-along with the brake pads for the job. I'm thinking that the right front is giving the problem, the left front after the install went smoothly when turning the wheel after installing and the right front was a whisper of sound coming from the calipers when turning the wheel and tire after the install. The above is with the tire and all suspended up in the air and then turning over by hand.
I also made a boo-boo when I collapsed the calipers, I did not open the bleeder to force the old fluid back out,I'm going to flush out the system of course to take care of that, but I still don't think that could cause the pedel pulsation I get when coming to a dead stop. Oh yeah, last but not least -Dewfpo is it soup yet?
Thanks for the responces

Hey Poolman,

Just got beack from being gone for two weeks...... two weddings, back to back weekends, in different states. Wife got sick, and a rock thrown from the camper trailer in front of us cracked the windshield. Arghh!!! Road trips, they're not what they used to be.

Anyway, I'm getting the bug to crawl back under the hood of the 95 and start noodling again. I needed a break. We'll see.

Thanks for asking. I'll keep you posted. DEWFPO

Hey Dewfpo--Post whats going on to rule 308--he seems to know whats going on with these things better than most, maybe he can point you in the direction that we might have both missed.
