Coolant leak under intake 89 244 200 1989

Hi all,
I am heading on a 300 mile weekend trip tomorrow and just noticed coolant leaking under the intake. It appears to be in the area near the flame trap. The hose that goes into the block there looks great and seems to have good integrity, but I can't see up under there from top or under the car. My issue is time, I want this done tonight so I do not have to leave my wife stranded all weekend. My question is do I attack from above or below? I could remove the starter and probably see OK. I didn't want to remove the intake but I will if I can find a good gasket in town. I'd also like some assurance it's not the head gasket from anyones experience, the search seemed to indicate they usually leak coolant on the exhaust manifold side. Any tips or encouragement is greatly appreciated.

Hose repaired, Thanks Manolo 200 1989

The hose from the heater core that goes under the engine had failed, but only when the engine under load in conjuction with a weak engine mount. The mount and other hose will be fixed next week and I'll baby the car on the trip. The hose to the back of the block seems OK, but I'll have tools and heater hose with me just in case. That one will be much easier. With the help of a mirror and a ramp to stand on I went along side the lower flame trap hose after removing the flametrap. It actually wasn't bad after my initial frustration with just finding the leak. I couldn't see the leak as it was on an inside bend of the shaped hose and it didn't stream out.
Have a nice weekend all,
Palmer

My wife's car was steaming from the manifold side and after extensive hunting, my light happened to pick up a stream of water no thicker than a hair coming from a hose under the intake manifold.

I R&Red it with the manifold in place, but I probably would have been time and skinned knuckles ahead to have removed the manifold.
