Pressure brake bleeding 700

Has anyone tried a pressure brake bleed on a 740 w/ ABS? I'm not having much luck. Are there any tricks or do I have to go back to getting my wife to pump the brake peddle? I'm putting about 10 psi in the master cylinder but not much is coming out the bleed screws when they're opened. Do I need more pressure?

As Steve says, you may have clogged bleeders (how old is the car?). My '93 940 bled OK with about 12 psi on the MC from a MityVac pressure port=>hose=>adapter cap.

Although the Volvo 700/900 Brake manual pressure bleeder spec is 29-44 psi, I don't believe a clean system needs that much. I've also heard of old-time road racers that swear by "gravity bleeding". IMO, 10 psi should do it, barring contamination.

The motive system I have says to use 20 PSI. I believe that is intended to be safe for any car and extra margin to use on any car. Since the machine Volvo uses specs 29-44 PSI, I did the motive bleeder at 30 PSI. Worked great for me.

I did have a clogged bleeder though that I couldn't unclog. I loosen it to let the fluid come out the fitting.

Works fine on all four of mine (all have ABS save one). Crank it up to 20psi: 10psi is too low. Push the pedal down about one inch to clean out the m/c. Fluid should flow fine. You do have to clean gunk out of the bleed screw outlet if the rubber cap is broken or missing.

You do not need to cycle the ABS by turning on the engine or anything else: these units can be manually flushed.
