B20 thermometera and Haynes manual 120-130

Only for pure curiosity: Reading (again) the Haynes manual, I see a reference about the temperature sensor is a electrical type unit. Of course, at least, on B18A engines it is mechanical (capilar tube). Was the same on B20 units?. Some later amazon engine uses a electrical temperature sensor as a standard? Or was a errare haynes est? (also the related diagram was printed rotated or it is from another engine).

B20/30 used an electric sensor in the same kind of hole in the cylinder
head as the B18 used. You can put the earlier capillary bulb and tube
in the B20 head if you need it in an older car (122, etc)
Nice of them, ¿no?

B20 thermometera and Haynes manual 120-130

George, thanks. Then if i understand right, some B20 engines uses a electrical temp gauge, but that change fue after the Amazon era. Interesting, then the Haynes note was a copy-as-is from the 240 or similar haynes manual.

B20 thermometera and Haynes manual - thread size ? 120-130

Just want to jump on this topic with a question :
is it possible that the threads for the capillary sensor and the electric sensor are different ? I have two heads B20A lying around, one with an electric sensor, one unknown (just open hole). When I try to screw the electric sensor in the other head, it goes in, but blocks almost immediately. It looks like the diameters are the same, but not the threads per inch. I have been trying to measure the holes with a tpi gage, but my gage (and my close-range eyesight) seem not to be up to the task. If I recall well, must be something like 18 or 19 tpi.
Does anyone know if there was a difference between 121 heads and 144 heads - I mean for the thread size ? What kind of threads are they ?
I am soon into a head swap ; maybe I'll run into temperature indicator problems ??
Thx for any input,

John

B20 thermometera and Haynes manual - thread size ? 120-130

My first electrical sensor was broke two weeks ago (just as a secondary product of a headgasket change). Seeking around, I adquire a cheap "universal" sensor and another (a improved design, with upper plastic protection) for toyotas. Oops, the toyota one fit only one or two lines - wrong thread (but after it, was a match on my brother-on-law mitsubshi rice-car). The cheapo universal (a bit more long) fit as a glove. Then, in market you can found at least two thread sizes, the "universal" (US$1 here) and the one for toyota (US$4.50).

When I removed my temp gauge last week (with the capillary tube), I plugged up the hole in B20 block with electric sendor (which I pulled from a 140). No problem.
