wiring to pre-pump question 700 1991

Does the wiring to the fuel level sending/pre-pump assembly have any "quick disconnect" connector to unplug for removal/replacement or do you have to cut the wires?

Follow the wires from the point where they exit the pump/guage sender unit. On the wagon the plug is under the drivers side rear floor panel behind the rear wheel well. Either sedan or wagon has an access panel about 8x8 above tank to the left (drivers side) of center. Pump + is red runs through the plug - ground is black and is attached to the body the other 2 wires are for the fuel guage sending unit.

Many thanks.

Do I access the harness "disconnects" for the sending unit by crawling on the ground under the 745 wagon -or- via the inspection cover I removed and which is located inches above the unit?

In other words, can I disconnect from inside the 745 wagon interior -or- can I only unplug the unit from underneath the vehicle.

This is a few years ago and I may be mistaken, but if I remember right there are connections directly on the in-tank pump. You will see when you pull it, and I think it is screw posts directly on or slightly above the pump (looks like a small electric motor and sits on the bottom end of the in-tank unit). When you have pulled the unit halfways out of the tank you can also follow the leads (you now see which ones are for the pump) backwards and see if you find any connectors further back on the leads, under the covers/carpets.
