Knocking

AKA piston slap. My 745 has been doing it for 402,000 miles, well I should say 277,000 miles since that's how many miles I've driven it!

Danny, I have two of the same year 240's with the same symptoms. Have you had the car for a long time? I'm guessing not, because you would have noticed this some time ago.
This is believe it or not this is "normal", Volvo engineered the pistons to expand in size when the engine warms up, this knocking sound goes away.
This is especially happens when the car has over 75,000 miles.

Cheers, Duck
