Lengthing rear wheel studs... 200

Any one have experience with lengthening the rear wheel studs on a 240?

If so how? If not, thoughts on how one might accomplish this?

Thanks

Lengthing rear wheel studs... 200

Volvo offered a set of 5 extra long wheel studs for use with special wider wheels and they should still be available.

Sheck the dealer parts catalogue or try http://www.scandcar.com

Are you changing alloys by chance? I love the Novas, but hey have a little bit too much offset. I wanted to get longer studs so I could use a spacer in back. Must have contacted ten or fifteen places via internet (as well as hitting all the local shops) but could not find the exact configuration. However, there was a post on the board about a year ago on this and the person did have longer studs. He did not respond to my inquiry as to where he got them though!!!!

The current set up I have on my car is a 1 1/4" adapter/spacer that has pushed the rear's out too far...and on heavy bumps I am getting tire rub against the wheel well inside lip.
Without getting into the whole story of how I got here, turns out I don't need the adaptor/spacer, and can get away with a 1/4" spacer and the standard bolt pattern.

But, when I add the spacer, I will only have 5/8" of bolt left to secure the nut against. Not enough in other words.

I think I have found another solution, and will be trying it in the coming weeks, I will let you know how it goes.

Are you contemplating spacers? 200

Just curious -- why would you want longer studs? They wouldn't be any stronger, since the stress are confined to the nearer portion of the studs.

Contemplating machining some spacers to increase track width? If so, check on "wheel spacers" in the archives -- there's been a lot of coverage, and you might find something useful.

Best regards,

I already have adaptors/spacers on the rear. I want to remove the adaptors/spacers as they are pushing the wheel out too far and causing rub on the inside lip of the fender. I have a good 1 1/2" of room inside the tire, so I want to move them inwards a little.

I have done all the measurements and all I need is a 1/2" spacer on the standard bolt pattern and it's perfect. But, the combination of the 1/2" and the rims leaves me with only 5/8" worth of bolt to work with, and that's not enough. So one option was to press in longer studs, the other option I am looking at is to have the adaptors machined down a 1/4" but then I run into the problem of the wheel studs sticking out to far through the adaptor, but maybe I can trim the wheel studs back? Going to give this option a try...

Thanks
