240 blinker 200 1981

After I got my 242, I found out the blinker assembly broke off (seems someone overtightened the screw and it broke off and was glued back on). Replaced it with a part from the boneyard, now it won't work. The upper light works fine, but when blinker or hazards are activated, it won't work. I crimped a new lug on the ground but that didn't work. Cleaned connections, no go. Could this replacement unit be bad? What should I look for and can this be fixed without having to go back to the boneyard.

tia

Would be worth it to get even a $10-$15 electrical multitester (Volts/Ohms/continuity) to help you check this out.

There must be a break in continuity somewhere - hot source going to bulb, or the ground path from bulb to holder or holder to wire or wire to ground screw/body.

You can keep cleaning all connections over and over till it works - or you can use a tester to find where it's not working and clean that.

Possibly a wire break inside the insulation - though not that likely. A tester can find that, but that's one thing that repeated cleaning won't fix.
