Spare Tire Compartment Locked Shut 900 1994

I'm was look at a 940 wagon today, but the owner showed me that he can't open the spare tire compartment with his key. Is there any way to get in there? Are we going to need a locksmith? The owner said he would get it repaired, but I'd like to know if there's a solution I can do myself.
