When I attempt to set the timing light via a light to 10 BTDC the vacuum attatchment (can I just take the entire clamshell shaped thing off and cover the hole, if I want?) it hits the block when I turn the distributor. When I "flip" the distributor so that #1 is on the firewall side then the condensor hits the block when I'm attempting to set the timing.
I'd like to leave the clamshell on as I'd like to set up vacuum advance, as John Parker states it'll make the engine run a lot smoother under varying circumstances.
Can someone make a reccomendation?
